Crystal Wolf is devoted to the following subjects:

This selection is not quite random, it has much to do with me and my own experience. This is a blog, after all.
If you are wondering what the name of the site means and how it attaches itself to the themes listed above, don’t worry. There is no deep meaning, or hidden links. A website should have some name, at least a domain name, so I just needed to come up with something. Something… well, original.
I could have used my own name, but there were two problems. First, the name didn’t mean much in English, and it was quite difficult to remember. Second, it was already used for my website in Russian.
So, I decided… to translate my own name into English, using a bit of creative thinking. If you look at my last name, you will recognize a resemblance with ‘crystal’, which is not a coincidence. Easy.
Transforming of my first name was not that obvious. Originally most names (including west-European ones) had some pathetic meaning. We don’t remember this meaning anymore, or don’t care about it, or don’t even know it was there. However…
Well, my first name is somewhat similar to Donald, or Arnold, and can be interpreted as ‘world’s master’. But nowadays we are supposed to be modest, aren’t we?
I tried to go another way and remembered something from my childhood. A short form of my name reminded me then of Ukrainian word ‘vovk’, and it is ‘wolf’ in English.
Pretty good. Wolves are aggressive, and strong, and endurable. Crystal is fragile, and clear, and beautiful. An unexpected combination, which may bring us to some more creative thinking, and that’s what my blog is all about.
